The most expensive failure on a site is a silent one. The form says thank you and the email goes nowhere.
Enquiries usually vanish for three reasons: the mail is sent from an address with no right to write for the domain, the hosting cannot send mail at all, or the form still holds an old recipient address.
One move fixes it: a copy of every enquiry in Telegram, where there is no spam filter. At handover we send a test enquiry in front of you and show where it lands.
The site works, visitors come, enquiries do not. The owner decides the advertising is failing and raises the budget. In fact the email lands in spam or hits a server that will not send it.
| Cause | How you notice | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Mail is sent on behalf of a domain without the right to | It sits in spam, not in the inbox | Set up an SPF record or send through a service |
| The hosting cannot send mail at all | The form says «thank you», the mail goes nowhere | Move the form to an external service |
| The recipient address changed | Enquiries dropped to zero after a mail move | Check the address in the form, not in the footer |
Duplicate every enquiry into Telegram — no spam filter there. Collect them all in a spreadsheet. And test the form monthly by sending yourself an enquiry.
At handover we send a test enquiry with the client watching and show where it landed. It takes a minute and removes a whole class of problems.
| Failure | How it looks | How to check yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Mail with no right to the domain | The form says “thank you”, the mail is in spam | Send yourself an enquiry and open Spam |
| Hosting cannot send mail | Silence, no error | Ask the host whether sending is enabled |
| Old address in the form | Mail goes to someone who left | Open the form settings and read the address |
Enquiries are not only lost in the mail — sometimes the site simply does not open in time.
